The Global Championship Where Sailors Become the Stars

STAR SAILORS LEAGUE

The Star Sailors League (SSL) is the world's leading inshore sailing circuit, founded in 2012 by Olympic sailors and elite athletes with a simple yet powerful vision: to place sailors—not boats—at the center of the sport.

Created by sailors, for sailors, the SSL celebrates athletic excellence and recognizes the individuals who shape the future of competitive sailing. Through a worldwide network of more than 15,000 regattas held each year, the SSL connects the global sailing community and identifies the sport’s top-performing athletes.

At the heart of the SSL Circuit are two flagship pillars:

The SSL Ranking, updated every Tuesday, tracks the performances of more than 100,000 sailors worldwide, providing the most comprehensive and respected ranking system in international sailing.

The SSL Gold Cup, often described as the “Football World Cup of Sailing”, is the pinnacle event of the circuit. Bringing together 56 nations from across the World Sailing community, it crowns the world's best sailing nation in a unique and prestigious international championship.

In a sport where technological development can sometimes overshadow human achievement, the SSL promotes a level playing field where talent, teamwork, strategy, and determination make the difference. By emphasizing fair competition, the league allows champions to emerge as true sporting heroes and role models for future generations of sailors.

Since 2017, the Star Sailors League has been recognized as a World Sailing Special Event, confirming its status as one of the most important and influential initiatives in international sailing.
